The Jewel of Dolpo
A stunning, pristine lake in the heart of the Trans-Himalaya.
Reaching depths of 145 meters, Phoksundo is considered the deepest lake in Nepal. Its striking blue-green hue is attributed to the high mineral content and the lack of any aquatic life.
On the southern shore sits Ringmo village, where residents practice the ancient Bon religion, which predates Tibetan Buddhism. A picturesque 900-year-old Bon gompa overlooks the lake, adding to its mystical atmosphere.
